Three storey ‘build to rent’ walk-up apartment development
Respond were engaged to develop the concept and obtain DRP and Resource Consent approval for Building 1D at the Kōkōwai Apartments development. This three storey ‘build to rent’ walk-up apartment development consists of thoughtful and generously proportioned two and three bedrooms apartments for individuals, couples and small families. The building design presents a strong visual and pedestrian connection to the surrounding streets, with individual front door access to all ground floor apartments, and the ‘bookends’ and fenestration providing a rhythmic street façade to engage with the street and surrounding area.
Ground floor apartments have been designed with Universal design principles in mind, allowing for level access and fully accessible interior spaces. The development has been thermally modelled in PHPP software, with proposals made to maximise the thermal comfort of all apartments for users, and significantly reduce energy usage and operational carbon.
